A Bit About Monika
Hello, I’m Monika, a passionate yoga and mindfulness practitioner who has been on this journey since grade school, when my mother, Mimi, introduced me to the joy of laughing yoga. What began as a fun, lighthearted practice with her has since evolved into a lifelong path of balance, self-discovery, and growth.
Showing up is winning.
As I navigated a successful corporate career and motherhood, yoga became my anchor. It wasn’t always easy, but yoga provided me with the tools to stay centered, even when life felt overwhelming. The practice of "showing up" has taught me that being even or steady is key. Finding this balance on the mat has been crucial to maintaining balance off the mat. This perspective of striving for even has helped me navigate the highs and lows of life. It is part of my growth to share this with you.
I will forever be a student.
Five years ago, I completed my Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) with Ellen Kaplow in New Jersey, marking a significant milestone in my practice. Since then, my teaching style has naturally evolved, and I now prefer working with smaller groups where I can offer a more personalized, compassionate approach. My education while attaining my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from NYU has taught me that each student deserves to feel comfortable, confident, and empowered, both in their practice and beyond.
Gratitude is essential.
Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of learning from some incredible teachers. In addition to Ellen Kaplow, I’ve trained with yoga legends such as Shiva Rea, Rodney Yee, and Colleen Saidman, all of whom have shaped my understanding of yoga and mindfulness. I’m also deeply grateful to my teachers at Satsang Yoga, Alluem Yoga, and Denise Mihalik at Sound Awakenings for their ongoing wisdom and guidance. But above all, I am inspired daily by my family — my husband and two sons — who remind me of what truly matters.
Sharing with others.
Yoga, for me, is about more than just physical postures; it’s a path that nurtures inner peace, self-awareness, and connection. These elements, learned on the mat, are what I carry into my daily life, and I aim to share that with all of my students.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
Namaste.

The Budding Poppy
Our Poppy signifies success in many Asian cultures but to me it is a call back to memories of my mother's favorite flower.
We included a budding Poppy to show new beginnings, and it is surrounded by an open circle to show a willingness to accept new experiences.
In this photo, you can see me and my brother as kids sitting in moms garden with her favorite poppy flowers.
